Placement
Assessment is here to assist new and continuing students. One of the most important steps in the onboarding process is an accurate placement which aligns with your major and education plan.
Initial English and math placements are based upon multiple measure formulas from self-reported high school GPAs and grades via the online application and the "Palomar Placement and Pathways Survey" in the MyPalomar Student Center.

Requisite Clearances
Assessment also perform requisite clearances for the following courses:
- Business 204
- Economics 101, 102
- All English courses
- Engineering 126
- All Math courses
- Philosophy 200
- Physics 120, 200, 230
- Psychology 205
- Sociology 205
- Speech 105
Students may submit unofficial high school or college transcripts, AP, SAT or ACT scores to change initial placement or for clearance into any of the courses listed above.
When submitting documentation, please email assessment@palomar.edu and include the following:
- Unofficial transcripts or test scores in a .pdf format
- Full name and Palomar ID number
- The class you wish to take
We will respond to your email in the order it was received (typically within 24 hours).
