English Writing Lab Tutor, P/T,
Hourly: Applications are being accepted for possible
future positions to work in the English Writing Lab at
Palomar's main campus in San Marcos. A strong
background in grammar and academic writing is required.

GEAR UP Tutor/Mentor:
Applications are being accepted to work
with the Palomar College GEAR UP Program. Tutors will
provide academic assistance in the form of tutoring
individual, group and/or open sessions to appropriately
facilitate student academic success. Most tutors will work
between 15-20 hours per week assisting teachers during
periods in which teachers are teaching core subject areas
such as Math, Science, Language Arts and ESL (English as a
Second Language, ) and after school with homework.
Experience and Education: Possess a
2.5 or better cumulative G.P.A., be
registered in 3 minimum credit units during summer and 6
minimum credit units during Fall/Spring semesters;
knowledge, experience, and/or expertise in a subject
matter, area, or activity that could be shared with GEAR UP
participants in San Marcos and Vista partner schools;
communicate knowledge of course content in a way that is
meaningful to students; adapt to a variety of students with
a wide range of abilities and diverse learning styles. Pay

Journalism Designer, P/T Hourly:
Applications are being accepted for a journalist who
specializes in newspaper page and web design to work 10-15
hours per week (mostly evening hours) with journalism
students on the campus newspaper and magazine. The

in ECE or CD minimum, plus 16 units in GE and 1 year

Upward Bound
Tutor/Mentor:
Applications are being accepted to work
with the Palomar College Upward Bound (UB) Program.
The goal of the UB Program is to assist first-generation,
college-bound and/or low-income students enroll in and
graduate from post-secondary institutions. These
college-bound high school students need assistance after
school and at their high schools located in Oceanside, San
Marcos, and Escondido (Oceanside High, El Camino High,
Mission Hills High, San Marcos High, Escondido High, Orange
Glen High, and San Pasqual High). Assistance is needed
in academic subjects such as: upper level Math, Biology,
Chemistry, English, Writing, Literature, History, Foreign
Languages, and many more. Qualifications include: the
ability to serve as a positive role model, subject expertise
and proficiency, reliable transportation, and must be
available to tutor at school sites during the following
hours: Mondays - Thursdays from 1:30 pm - 7:00 pm
and/or Saturdays from 8:30 am - 3:30 pm. Applications
will be accepted until the position is filled. Federal
Work Study/Cal Works are encouraged to apply!
